contemporaryartscenter.org—in Cincinnati. With a brand new building in 2003, this organization doesn’t have a permanent collection. Try the exhibition archive for interesting info. No search function.

diacenter.org—Site for Dia Art Center. Searching for artists will lead you to images of work, short bio, bibliography, and essays. Very useful.

guggenheimcollection.org—directories by artist, movement, title, date, medium, concept. Good bios on artists. Lots of great information on the works and the artists plus suggested reading.

ica.org.uk—Institute of Contemporary Art in London. Prominent search function.

icaboston.org—site for Institute for Contemporary Art in Boston. No search function. Press releases only go back to 2001.

artfacts.net—all over the map, but useful for finding an artist’s bio. Can’t vouch for accuracy of information.

findarticles.com—search the art magazines: Afterimage, Artfoum, Art in America, and a few others. Unlike the magazines’ websites, it will give you the whole article.
